The winter 2021/22 session of the course is being held on Tuesdays, November 2, 2021, through January 18, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. Access to your own or your agency's AutoCAD software (any version) is required. All AutoCAD problem assignments will be turned in by email to the instructor, although some hard plotted copies (submitted as a PDF or scan) will be required. Students are expected to complete reading assignments prior to each classroom session to maximize the value of the discussion. In addition to the weekly lectures, the course includes AutoCAD lab assignments that will be completed both during and outside of class as needed. Those not able to attend the live lecture must view the recorded version within the same week. Students are encouraged to participate in the live weekly sessions, but they will also be recorded and posted in the online course platform. It also includes weekly office hours, giving students time to ask questions.

The 10-week course includes weekly two-hour live virtual classroom sessions, led by the course instructor. Assignments cover a variety of disciplines, including civil and mechanical engineering, architecture, and site development.

Students will learn the skills needed to complete simple 2D drawings, including drawing, modifying, dimensioning, labeling with text, and inserting blocks. The course will outline the basic elements of AutoCAD, the most commonly used drafting software in Minnesota public works offices. Attendees will learn about the application of two-dimensional (2D) drafting techniques and business applications at the entry level. This course, part of Minnesota LTAP's new Roadway Design Using AutoCAD and Civil 3D training series, covers the most current version of AutoCAD software skills and construction concepts.
